Green Star CanSat

We are a group of high school students participating in the CanSat contest. Our mission? Build a satellite that one day will change how we seed inaccessible areas. Check out our socials to follow our journey.

Green Star CanSat

Our Mission

Our mission is to prototype a CanSat mini-satellite that will be launched aboard a rocket to an altitude of around 3000 m. Once ejected from the rocket, the CanSat will automatically detect the descent phase by monitoring changes in altitude computed from air pressure measurements. The CanSat will carry air pressure and temperature sensors along with a GPS module. Data from these instruments will be used to calculate wind speed, air density, and current altitude in real time. All measured parameters, from the sensors mentioned above, will be continuously transmitted to the ground station and simultaneously saved to an SD card for post-flight analysis.

When the CanSat descends to approximately 100 m above the ground, its onboard computer will trigger the capsule-deployment mechanism, causing cellulose capsules filled with seeds to be released through the openings. After landing, the CanSat will maintain radio communication with the ground station to facilitate easy location and recovery of the device.
